Sometimes we introduce a product that comes about by accident. We were experimenting with a series of herbs well known for skin health. We did an Herbal Decoction and then thickened it and poured a bottle to see what it might be like. My daughter applied to her skin and said 'finally you made me a toner'. At the time it wasn't even in my mind to use it that way. So we decided to improve what we had done. We added in Dl-Panthenol and Allantoin to improve the product even further. After several more test batches we had what I believe is something special.

For the last couple of months we have been asking our customers to evaluate it. And we've had several ask when we would have it for sale.

The toner is FANTASTIC! You should definitely offer it for sale :) Thanks again for sending it!

The toner is awesome!! I've had a rash on my chin for ever and it's cleared up almost completely in two uses!! A big thumbs up!! I love all of your products!! Debra

Is this a traditional toner? No! This is a way of getting these skin healing herbs deep into your skin. This improves the overall health of your skin. It has a deep herb scent.

I just love the toner.
I will make (have made) it a part of my routine. Kim

we asked Kim how she felt about the scent.

It smells a little "herby". But that's what in it.
I feel like it's food for my skin.
People are spoiled with their fake fragrances.
Not sure what you could use to to mask smell without altering product too much. Lavender?
I love the way it tightens my skin and have been using it on my neck area that has gotten too much sun over the years. Kim

We decided to go unscented because, we felt the scent might change the benefits of the product.

So what are traditional toners? I'd say pretty much all toners are 90% alcohol and water. They do seem to make the skin feel good, when applied. But the problem with alcohol is it strips the skin of nutrients. Which makes the skin less toned.

So I've been using the new Toner you sent me to try for about a week now. And, OMG, this Toner
is absolutely incredible! I am so amazed by the way it's made my skin look and feel. I mean,  it literally has helped clear my skin even better, and it's even helping improve spots from old acne scarring, and hyper pigmentation!
Makes my facial skin feel firm and tight. But in a fabulous and very clean and fresh feeling way.
I do my daily Tea Tree Treatment Scrub at night, everyday, then I apply a little of the Toner all over, wait about 10 minutes, and then I moisturize with
the midnight PM Acne Moisturizer.
But in the mornings, I wash just with the Shea
Soap. And again just a little amount of the Toner,
And the same moisturizer.
I'm telling you, it's been just about only 1 week, and this is now my holy grail product!
You've really hit the jackpot with this one!
I cannot thank you enough for all of your help,
and tips, advice, sending me the free Toner, I mean, everything, THANK YOU SO MUCH !
You have worked so patiently with me for over a year, and I never ever thought that I would have clear skin, and I pretty much do. I actually can't even remember the last time I got a pimple.!
Occasional redness, but zero pimples.
Thank you so much again for everything you have done for me. I feel very blessed????

Kindly,
    Shirley

How do I use it? After your bath, apply a very thin layer to your face. About a 1/2 teaspoon. And let it absorb. About 5 or 10 minutes. If the bath is very steamy I step into my cooler bedroom to help it absorb faster. After it sets and your skin is dry, then moisturize. If it doesn't all absorb, wipe excess and use less next time. It's easy.

Ingredients: In order of prominence.

Reverse Osmosis is the gold standard of water. Obviously we wanted fast absorption. Using a water with any hard water components or contaminants would slow down this absorption. Most companies use 'purified' water. Which may or may not be as good. Might seem like a minor point, but I saw a huge difference in the quality of our products when we switched from 'just purified' about 15 years ago. Now we only use R-O Water.

Olive Leaf (Olea Europaea), A particular favorite of ours now. Olive leaf supports healthy skin.

Dong Quai  (Angelica sinensis) dong quai has exhibited both anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory activity.

Gum guggal (Commiphora wightii.) Guggul, the Commiphora mukul, is a small thorny tree that is native to the Middle East and the Indian plains. Generally leafless, the tree exudes a thick, sticky resin that has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for centuries. Guggul, whose Sanskrit name means "one that protects against diseases", has written historical information about it going back to 1000 B.C.E. It was used at that time for "clearing the coating and obstruction of channels". The gum exuded by the guggul tree is similar to myrrh, and has been used traditionally in the same ways as myrrh.

Vitex Berries (Vitex agnus castus) Supports healthy skin. Has been used for thousands of years in Chinese medicines.

Burdock Root  (Arctium lappa) Burdock has been an important medicinal herb in Western folk medicine and in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years, primarily valued for its blood cleansing and skin healing properties. The entire plant is edible and is a popular vegetable in Asia, particularly in Japan. More recently, burdock has been an ingredient in hair tonics for stimulating hair growth and in cosmetics with modern studies revealing its efficacy as a cosmetic treatment for mature skin.

Dandelion root  (Taraxacum officinale) Dandelion is a sunny, subtle, yet incredibly healing plant used for thousands of years in China and mentioned in traditional Arabian medicine in the tenth century C.E. It has been used for centuries, in traditional medicine practices all over the world, as a restorative tonic, edible food, and in herbal wines and beers. The root is a favorite amongst traditional herbalists as it supports the healthy functioning of the liver, kidneys, spleen, and gallbladder9-13 and is considered to be a reliable detoxifying agent.

Licorice root (Glycyrrhiza glabra)  Licorice root is one of the most widely used medicinal herbs worldwide and is the single most used herb in Chinese medicine today. It was used by the Egyptians as a flavoring for a drink called Mai-sus, and large quantities were found in the tomb of King Tut for his trip into the afterlife. Pliny the Elder recommended it to clear the voice and alleviate thirst and hunger. Dioscides, when traveling with Alexander the Great, recommended that his troops carry and use licorice to help with stamina for long marches, as well as for thirst in areas of drought. In the Middle Ages it was taken to alleviate the negative effects of highly spicy or overcooked food. In a recent survey of Western medical herbalists, licorice ranked as the 10th most important herb used in clinical practice. An astonishing number of Chinese herbal formulas (over 5,000) use licorice to sweeten teas and to "harmonize" contrasting herbs. Its first documented use dates back to the time of the great Chinese herbal master Zhang Zhong Zhing, about 190 AD, but it was certainly used for many centuries prior to this.

Red clover (Trifolium pratense L.)   is traditionally used to support healthy skin.

Neem Leaf  (Azadirachta indica)  Long known in Ayurdevic medicine in India, modern research has been confirming the traditional uses of the neem tree in Indian folk medicine. Its many properties and uses have given neem the reputation as Friend and Protector in Indian villages. The neem tree is native to India, and has been used in so many ways that it's difficult to count them all.

Allantoin: Allantoin is a naturally occurring nitrogenous compound used as a skin conditioning agent.

Germall plus (diazolidinyl Urea, 3-Iodo-2-propylbutylcarbarmate) less than one percent. Vegetable derived. Proven Safe and effective.  Paraben Free.

Natural Essential Oils. lavender, blood orange, ylang ylang (not overpowering)

pH neutral (pH 7) Why is this important? Practically every skin care product on the market is acidic (low pH). We believe a lot of people are suffering with an overuse syndrome of too much acid. Nature loves neutral. Ask any experienced gardener how hard it is to grow vegetables in acidic soil. Your blood is neutral. Most of your body is. This whole story of the 'acid mantle' is unverifiable.

Best toner in the whole entire world!!!!!!!!!! Not joking!! You can actually feel and see it tightening not your skin!! It's nice feeling and silky going on and you need such a small amount!! It dries quickly and it makes my pores teeny tiny!! It looks like my pores were before I started using liquid foundation. I was so disappointed that my pores got larger since I started using foundation but this in CNN nation with the rest of Carley's products have made my pores shrink back to their origins nail almost non existent size!!!!! You don't know how happy I am!!!!!!!!!!! I look forward to using this after every time I wash my face!!! Some reviews said it was herby or earthy smelling...I don't think it's bad at all...sure it doesn't smell like all the commercial toners packed with fragrance ..but I enjoy the smell and of it and my 4 year old son said that it smells good!! I agree! I don't think the smell is offensive in any way. Looooove this stuff!!!!

I love this toner, something I avoided because they all contained alcohol. This has really softened and smoothed out my face and particularly my neck, wish it would get rid of all wrinkles on this 62 year old skin. A little goes a long way.

Just wanted to let you know that I am in love with this Toner. When I first received this I use it once and put it away in my fridge not thinking much of it. I guess I am so used to the alcoholic toners that has been in the market over the years. One day I decided to use it because I did not want it to go to waste. I never throw anything that I get from this company. Once in a blue I may give it away if I feel I need a switch to another product from this company. For example;changing things up in the summer season (but this is very rare). I am very please with the results from this toner my pores have shrunk more than before and skin is a bit tighter. The texture of my skin looks much more flawless and dark spots are lightening up gradually. Over all my skin looks much more brighter and fresh faced. I highly recommend all to try this product and incorporate it into your daily routine. It is a great product to use with your skin care regimen. A little goes a long way so you can have this for almost a year (depending upon use).HIGHLY SUGGESTED!!!

I received this free when you sampled it out as a gift with purchase. It was last summer, and HOT. I loved it, but didn't get to use it long; I had to throw it out because it fermented in a few days, It was like beer, foaming up with yeast. The hot trip here was probably to blame. I love it (oops said that already) and appreciate the organic quality, which inevitably limits the preservatives. Has anyone else had this problem? Please tell me it was an isolated situation and I can get more.

Confession: I've never really believed in toners. I had tried a couple of others by high end brands and hadn't seen any of the so-called results. This toner, however, really is unique. As per usual for Carley's products, a little goes a very long way. I've used this twice a day on my face and chest for three months and only used about half a bottle. I normally have crazy sensitive skin and was hesitant since so many toners use acid, but this is very gentle and causes no adverse reactions whatsoever. In that time, I've seen some noticeable changes to my skin. First of all, it is just so darn smooth! I can't really describe it, only that when I wash my face, the soap just sort of glides over my skin, more so than usual. Secondly, it has REALLY helped to calm down my hyperpigmentation. I've had acne since the third grade. Combine that with being a terrible skin picker and you get a perpetually red face. Since I started using Carley's three years ago, my acne has gone away, and while the redness reduced, it didn't go away. This toner has very visibly gotten rid of the hypepigmentation to the point where it is almost GONE. I had been told by dermatologists that only chemical peels and microdermabrasion could do that, which, first of all, ick, and secondly, are expensive. Now I'm confident that continuing to use Carley's Herbal Toner will completely solve these issues. Lastly, the toner helps my lotions to absorb even better, and I've noticed that I need to use less of them. The bottom line is that this toner delivers very real results and makes for a great addition to the skin care lineup.

I received a free sample of this amazing product and have to say I'll be ordering more when I run out...which will be a while because it lasts a long time. My mom also really likes this toner; we both feel it does a wonderful job!!!
