Best hair ever with this product Buyer: levisvette ( 439)

My Trip to a Beauty Supply Store.

I’m the chief formulator for our products. I’m like most guys. I just don’t like to go shopping. I buy almost everything over the internet. Occasionally I do have to see what other products are out there. A lot of merchants don’t put ingredients on their web site. So I have to go to stores and study labels. We went to *ally Beauty Supply. There are dozens and dozens of conditioners there. I lost count. One thing that surprised me was the number of products with Argan in the name. Argan this and Argan that. I lost count. Gee this must be SOME ingredient!

If these companies love Argan Oil so much, how come they use so little of it?

Most of the time Argan Oil was so far down the ingredient list that you could only be getting a drop or two from each use. You see, the ingredient list is not in alphabetical order, but by the actual amount of the ingredient in the product (prominence). These products were Argan in name only. Of course, we know why. At $90 to $150 per gallon, it is pricey. And often it is hard to know if you are actually getting all Argan oil. Suppliers are known to lie and bastardize with other oils. This is why we are very picky about where we buy our supplies. We use the best, Virgin Argan Oil which is $150 a gallon.

Argan Oil is one of the most precious oils in the world. It comes from a very hardy tree that only grows in Moroccan in the desert. The Argan Trees only produce every other year. The seeds/nuts are incredibly hard. They require a lot of hand labor to get the oil out. Many areas of Morocco rely on this oil as their only income source. We use it in several of our moisturizers and are very familiar with Argan Oil. It is amazing and we love it!

Argan Oil is world renown as a curative oil for the hair. It is loaded with nutrients that the hair can use to become healthy. The difficult part is getting those benefits into your hair.

So why not just buy Argan Oil and apply it to your hair? Because our skin and hair cannot absorb oils by themselves. When you apply an oil directly to your hair, it leaves a film and just catches dirt from the air and feels greasy. The key is getting the Argan oil to absorb into your hair and scalp. For that to happen Argan has to be in a true moisturizer base. One thing we do know how to do is make a moisturizer. MAKING A TRUE MOISTURIZER IS ALMOST A LOST ART.

So we figured it would be easy to make a good hair conditioner.Boy were we wrong! I constantly study spread sheets. Trying to predict which ingredients and percentages are going to work. If you have 8 or 10 ingredients, the number of possible percentages are infinite. Hair conditioners are infinitely more complicated than moisturizers. What I mean is conditioners have to be rinsed out, unlike moisturizers which stay on the skin. You get into terms like: cationic quaternary compound, Adsorption as apposed to absorption, substantivity. We’re working with positive charged ingredients which adhere to your negative charged hair.

AND we wanted to make a conditioner with Virgin Argan Oil as the primary ingredient. No one does this!

I call myself the First Guinea Pig. If it doesn’t pass my test, it goes no further. I think the last time I had long hair was when I was in college. And that was decades ago. I keep my hair short because it gets split ends and it looks dull and hard to get a comb through without that tearing feeling. I’ve even considered shaving my head. So I decided I would allow my hair to grow as we tested each version of this conditioner. My hair is gray and has not been a very good color of gray for a while. So I was amazed at how my hair was growing out. Some days while doing the testing I was washing and conditioning my hair twice a day. Something most people would never do. Yet as my hair grew I notice how soft it was. And now my hair has several shades of gray. I was getting comments. No split ends either. Quite frankly I thought I was imaging it. And my scalp seemed healthy too. it seemed like my scalp used to get scratches and sores spots occasionally. That was no longer happening.

So I sent a bottle to my son. I explained to him, you can’t just apply it and immediately rinse it out. Our conditioner needs time in the hair. Put it on in the beginning of the shower. Right after you shampoo. Rinse it out at the end of the shower. He’s in his mid twenties and using Rogaine to keep a full head of hair. Rogaine is hard on the hair. He was skeptical, but after a week of using it he sounded very excited. He believes this might be a breakout product for us. He said he should have done a before picture. He couldn’t get over how wonderful his hair looked and felt. He lives in Los Angeles and it is very dry there.

Silicone is also known as dimethicone. But it has several other chemical names and forms. What is does is make things slick. It is the active ingredient in those anti-gas products people take. Silicone makes the big manufacturers job easy, since they can fill containers fast without worrying about bubbles or foam. We don’t use silicone, because it also leaves a film on the skin and hair. For hair care our worry was it seals the hair and actually starves the hair of nutrients. But isn’t it great for combability? Yes, when your hair is wet, silicone helps the comb glide through the hair. So with our product your hair will not get that ease of combing until it dries. As you continue to use our conditioner, you’ll see your hair getting healthier because it can now absorb the nutrients in our product. And your hair will get easier to comb.

This is a review from Amazon

Unfortunately, I’m allergic to dimethicone, which seems to be in almost every single conditioner. Despite conditioners that say they are organic, they either have dimethicone in the ingredients or they use it to manufacture the product and don’t list it in the ingredients. I have given up on using conditioner and finally tried this one. My hair has never been so shiny or silky, even when using Wen. Recommend: Combing or brushing your hair before washing & conditioning, as this product is not a de-tangler. Despite this it washes off clean (which is important as I break out easily), and when your hair dries its shiny, more manageable, softer, and silkier. Most importantly my scalp seems healthier and it doesn’t cause me to break out on my back which Wen did. I have not used a hair conditioner for about 1 and 1/2 years, within the first use I noticed that my hair was noticeably shinier and softer. The effect lasted through about 2 shampoos. I have been using the product for about a month and two weeks and my hair is shiny and soft. I have natural curl, so I find this effect extra amazing. As it’s so much easier to have shiny and silky hair when your hair is straight. dna

The conditioner is awesome. Even when using it after head and shoulders, my hair continues to feel softer and softer each day. It has even started to appear shinier after a couple weeks. I am due for a dead end trim this summer, so I imagine after that, it will only get better. The funny thing is that one day I sprayed some additional argan oil shine spray over top to see if it added shine. As the day went on, my hair appeared dryer and less soft/shiny. My hair was way better with just the conditioner being the last product used.

I love this conditioner. I have been a customer now for over 5 years, maybe longer, and I decided to order this for the family and we absolutely love it. I will never buy another conditioner again….waiting on a shampoo next! Cinnamon

Review Details: I have 3c (3a with length)/ ii/iii / BCL hair. Normal porosity. I’ll be up-front about it- I’m a major hair-product snob. MAJOR! I gave up silicone (‘cones)and sulfates more than 5 years ago. I’m more than a tiny bit leery of proteins. I once *ran* away from a mall kiosk person trying to spray something in my hair. Yes, I’m a snob. BUT, I adore Carley’s products, so when I got a sample, I had to try it. Holy wow! Usually I just forgo conditioner all the way and use one of my favorite leave-ins (NBs Panacea) to lock in moisture. But this is amazing. I wanted to make sure that I was actually getting the full potential so I got out the clarifying shampoo. *shudder* After that, I used about 3 tablespoons worth of conditioner, starting at the ends, and gently raking my way up the length. It did feel a little, grainy? whilst I was going about the shower routine, but when it washed out- Heaven. It was so, so easy to detangle, and the slip was amazing. Plus, my hair didn’t take the usual HOURS it does to air-dry like it does with conventional conditioners. And even without an ACV rinse, which I usually do, there isn’t that tacky “there’s still stuff in my hair” feeling you get with certain conditioners. Bonus points for the scent not lasting for hours, while it tries to smother me. The peppermint is very light and refreshing, and fades quickly- a plus for me. For some reason, I also have crazy awesome volume and defined ringlets without using another product. I don’t understand how Steve does this, but he needs to keep on doing it! Big bottle, get in my cart right now- I need you. s.w.

Conditioner smells great and makes my hair feel amazing! Buyer: kacey719

Review Details: I have long and thick hair, and have tried literally a dozens of different brands of conditioners, several from salons. I can honestly say that this one is much better. A little goes a super long way and has an addictive mint smell when hair is wet. It moisturizes incredibly. After perhaps a week of use my hair was noticeably shinier and easier to brush, less breakage. On my next trip to the salon my hair dresser of several years asked me what I was doing differently with my hair. I told her that my guys online make a great conditioner that’s natural, ph neutral, silicone free and made with premium grade ingredients. So after years of trying to find a perfect and satisfying conditioner, I’ve found it. Madeline

This product is great! Thank you very much for making it. It gives my hair the feeling I’ve had when I was a kid. It feels alive again. AJ

My favorite seller. Interesting product… stronger hair, soft when dry. Buyer: greatbuyergirl

I almost passed up on your fabulous conditioner, Argan Oil Healthy Hair
Conditioner, because a few comments led me to believe my hair might tangle
and I’d need to devote extra time to combing and drying it, time I just
don’t have weekday mornings. I have naturally straight hair that is
somewhat thick. After shampooing and conditioning, I can comb immediately
without any breakage or being stopped by tangles. Whether I blow dry or air
dry my hair, it is always lovely: full of body, increased shine, healthier
texture, and–best of all–not oily and droopy at the end of the day! Julia K.

The next ingredient we looked at was DL Panthenol. We wanted this conditioner to be more than just Argan oil. At $24 a pound, Panthenol is another expensive ingredient the helps your hair to be healthy. Also known as “ProVitamin B5” or “Pantothenic Acid”, 100% panthenol is an additive no hair care should be without. It’s strengthening properties are well-known and widely used in professional hair care formulations where it also provides lustre to the hair when used at 2.0%. Also well known for it’s anti-inflammatory properties for professional skin care formulations where it also acts as a powerful redness reducer when used at only 1.0%. So not only does this benefit the hair it also helps the scalp to be healthy. We use a full 2%.

Guar Conditioner (GuarSilk) is another pricey ingredient($28 a pound). It is a unique hair conditioner derived from the Guar bean, and is a natural hydro colloid. Guar Gum belongs to the legume family and is primarily cultivated on the Indian subcontinent. Small amounts are also grown in Texas and Oklahoma. The gum is derived from the endosperm of the Guar Bean, which contains protein, fiber, and moisture. Through multi-stage grinding and sifting, the endosperm is separated out and then ground to a fine powder called guaran. Guar Conditioner (GuarSilk), and its derivatives, offer several advantages for personal care formulators looking to add conditioning, and improved aesthetics, to natural product lines, especially hair care.
The benefits are:
Improved comb-ability
Biodegradable and nontoxic
Improves glide
Conditioner for hair (substantive)
Improves natural moisture in skin
Hair and skin feel softer and smoother
Natural and derived from a renewable source
Positive charge for better bonding to damaged skin and hair

Peppermint: Real oil of peppermint has many benefits for the hair. We use enough to feel that cooling tingly effect, the longer our conditioner is on your hair. Peppermint helps oily hair becomes less oily. And Dry hair becomes less dry. Has been shown to help the health of the scalp and also reported to help dandruff.

Cetac 30 – Cetrimonium Chloride is a cationic quaternary ammonium salt that is used as a hair conditioning agent. This is a vegetable derived ingredient. Its use in conditioners and improves both wet and dry combing and reduces static electricity. Cationic means it helps other nutritional ingredients adhere and absorb into the hair even after the rinse. i noticed as soon as we added this ingredient my hair no longer had that fly away feeling.

HOW TO USE: Wash & condition your hair at the BEGINNING of your shower. So our conditioner can have the longest contact. Then rinse at the END of your shower. 5 to 20 minutes of contact will give your hair shine and luster. Stop split ends from forming and bring your scalp back to a healthy state.

Why do we want longer contact? Hair conditioners are moisturizers for the hair. No one would ever use a moisturizer for their skin and then wash it off after only 2 minutes.

How long does the average shower last? Studies say the average male takes 10 minutes and the average female takes 15-20 minutes. Usually girls have more to do in the shower. But it really depends on the length of hair and that kind of thing. Someone bald might only take 2-5 minutes where someone with long hair might take 30 minutes! So wash in the beginning and condition. Make the last thing you do in the shower rinsing out our conditioner. If you are in the bath, use clean water to rinse. And let your hair air dry or blow dry. Towel drying strips nutrients out of your hair. Plus potentially adds detergents on your towels to your hair.

So how important are shampoos? Should you use a special shampoo? Shampoos simply remove embedded oils and dirt in your hair to clean your hair. In so doing shampoos remove valuable oils/emollients. This is why you need to add back those emollients with our product. Sodium Laurel Sulfate shampoos (and most other liquid shampoos) not only remove oils but strip your hair so thoroughly that hair colors are not safe. Conditioning is THE most important step.

Ingredients:

Reverse Osmosis purified water: virtually all skin care products ‘say’ they use purified water. But the real deal is reverse osmosis purified water. This mean ZERO contaminants which means the starting point is pure. It’s expensive to do (goes through 5 filters, which have to be changed often), but it is the only water we use. We use the waste water from this purifying process to water our flowers and landscaping. So there is no waste. Don’t some products use distilled water? Yes but distilled water is expensive to make (heat is used to boil the dirty water and stream is collected). the problem we have with distilled water is it has a lower pH due to the extra ions added during the process. We prefer to work with pH neutral water. To me there is no more perfect water than R-O water. I remember the 1st time we made soap with it. As we poured the soap is was so creamy! It looked like home made ice cream right before it gets solid. It’s one of our special secrets to how good our products are.

Virgin Argan Oil (Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil) One of the most precious carrier oils in the world.

Glycerin (vegetable). What skin care product doesn’t benefit from Glycerin? Problem is most store bought and even high end moisturizers use animal derived Glycerin. You don’t even want to know how they make this glycerin. Unless the label specifically says vegetable it is almost always animal derived. Yuck!

BTMS (Behentrimonium Methosulfate Cetearyl Alcohol) This is a sulfate free ingredient. BTMS Conditioning Emulsifier is an excellent cationic self-emulsifier and conditioner for both hair and skin care. It is naturally derived from Colza oil and is noted for its exceptional mildness. BTMS Conditioning Emulsifier offers innovative properties to formulations as both a mild primary emulsifier and an excellent conditioning agent.

Cetac 30 (Cetrimonium Chloride) is a cationic quaternary ammonium salt that is used as a hair conditioning agent. This is a vegetable derived ingredient. Its use in conditioners and cream rinses improves both wet and dry combing and reduces static electricity. Cationic means it helps other nutritional ingredients adhere and absorb into the hair even after the rinse.

Panthenol (2%) I'm guessing but I'm betting that most hair care products that have this ingredient on the label don't use very much. There is a world wide shortage and it is expensive. Panthenol is present in all living cells in the form of Pantothenic acid which is a constituent of Co-enzyme A. A deficiency in Panthothenic acid results in dermatological and many physiological disorders. Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5) is a natural constituent of healthy hair. Panthenol (pro-vitamin B5) will convert to pantothenic acid (vitamin B5) in hair. Panthenol conditions the hair without build up.

GuarSilk (Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride)

Cetyl Stearyl Alcohol (vegetable) this is a waxy vegetable ingredient used to give the moisturizers a bit of heft and contact feel.

Germall Plus (4/10’s of 1%) (diazolidinyl Urea, 3-Iodo-2-propylbutylcarbarmate) (a vegetable derived preservative to keep our product fresh) only needs 4/10’s of one percent to keep our product safe. Look before you ask, no totally natural preservative really protects products from bacteria. We don’t like using Parabens. and since we pH balance our moisturizers we are limited in our choice of preservatives. What’s great about this one is so little is needed to afford protection.

Oil of Peppermint (Mentha piperita) Although at the bottom of the list, we use a real USA variety of peppermint oil. You’ll know it is there.

We do not use Phthalates: Ever wonder how most products can last years and years on the retail shelf? There’s this secret almost unpronounceable ingredient called Phthalates. It used to be only used to make plastics stronger and more flexible. But recently it has been revealed that this mystery ingredient is used to also ensure fragrances stay fresh smelling in cosmetic products for years. And here’s the kicker, our government doesn’t require manufacturers to even put this ‘poison’ on the label. But the secret ingredient was revealed when scientists were trying to figure out why this chemical was turning up in baby urine. Everything we ship is made fresh, and we only use natural essences so no need to use Phthalates. Sorry if we sound smug, but the more we examine the products being sold as good for us the more we find they aren’t good for us.

pH neutral: And why is this important? Although we use ingredients that have an acid pH, the finished conditioner is pH neutral, like all of our moisturizers. We believe the skin is actually stressed by acids. Virtually all moisturizers on the market are acid. We wondered why? If acids are so good for the skin as these products claim, why does it feel so good to take a swim in the ocean? Why does ocean water help your hair too. Ocean water pH is very much the opposite of acid. Slightly alkaline. Why is it recommended to keep swimming pool water slightly alkaline? There is a whole line of thinking now that promotes alkalines. We believe the skin and all of nature loves alkaline and hates acids. If the ocean were to all of a sudden become slightly acid, mostly it would be a dead body of water. Forget this nonsense of the ‘acid mantle’. Our bodies when healthy, are pH neutral to slightly alkaline.

Most of our ingredients are as close to natural as possible. We avoid overly processed ingredients. Processing means heat and that destroys the goodness in these precious ingredients we use.

We also include a free FULL SIZE bar of our Natural shea butter non-drying soap with each jar. An $8.00 value if purchases singly. This Natural soap has to be tried to be believed. It is nothing short of wonderful.

No animal ingredients or testing EVER! We also get assurances from our suppliers that all of our raw ingredients are not animal derived or any animal testing done there either.

Most skin care products you buy to use today, were made in large factories years ago and have been in storage. Everything we ship was made in small batches within a few weeks of shipping. Fresh matters! Quality ingredients matter!

Now keep in mind it is legal in this country to put one drop of an ingredient into a product and name it after that ingredient. WE DON’T EVER DO THAT. It might be legal, but it isn’t moral. Besides in our mind if a product works we will get reorders.

Best if used within one year of receipt. I’ll bet no skin care product you have bought from a store was made within the last year. Most of the products were made years ago. We find we can better control our quality if we make products as they are used. Fresh just makes for better skin care products. Our families all use our products. We only sell what we would use.

5 of 5 Favorite Hair Conditioner July 20, 2024
Reviewer: Katherine from United States
I have slightly course, curly hair, and I just keep coming back to this conditioner! It doesn't make my hair oily or heavy, and it smells like candy canes as a bonus. I don't get split ends, and my ends don't get dry, and I think I have this conditioner to thank, as that didn't use to be the case before I started using it. Love Carley's so, so much!

This conditioner is great for baby fine hair like mine and does NOT weigh your hair down. You can even use it daily or every 2-3 days. It’s a very light conditioner that gets the job done. Will definitely reorder this item again.
