Like most people I had never heard of Australian Boronia Absolute. We took a chance ordering this absolute from one of our international ingredient suppliers. And we are so glad we did! It's great to use as a perfume. Or do as I do: apply a small amount before bedtime to drift off to sleep with a heavenly aroma.
Boronia Absolute, is Organically extracted from the fragrant cup-shaped reddish-purple flowers of Boronia megastigma shrub [Family: Rutaceae] originating in Western Australia. With its incredibly alluring, rich, flowery aroma with the natural green freshness of cassis and undertones of ripening hay, Boronia Absolute is used widely within perfumery and fragrancing applications.
Containing natural ionones, Boronia Absolute is used in high class floral perfumes and bases. It can be used to bring many aspects of a complex perfume into a more harmonious whole as well as being a prized fixative. It also has potent antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties which prevent and reverse skin damage caused by free radicals and is beneficial for the treatment of acne. Boronia Absolute can also help alleviate anxiety, irritability and situational depression, and also works as a natural sleep aid. Boronia Absolute Oil is also a potent aphrodisiac, and it may be helpful in sexual wellness applications.
Ingredients:
Reverse Osmosis Purified Water: Reverse Osmosis is the gold standard of water. Obviously we wanted fast absorption. Using a water with any hard water components or contaminants would slow down this absorption. Most companies use 'purified' water. Which may or may not be as good. Might seem like a minor point, but I saw a huge difference in the quality of our products when we switched from 'just purified' about 19 years ago. Now we only use R-O Water.
Virgin Coconut Oil (Cocos nucifera) Also known as Extra Virgin Coconut oil. From Fiji.
Emulsifying Wax, a vegetable wax when used at the right temperature combines oils and water into a true fast absorbing moisturizer. This is not xanthan gum or algin or seaweed. Those are thickeners and make fake moisturizers.
Stearic Acid another vegetable wax that helps to make the moisturizer creamy.
Boronia Absolute (Boronia megastigma Nees) Boronia plant is named after Francesco Borone, a young 18th century Italian botanist who met an untimely death while studying under Sir James Smith. Smith named the sweet-smelling Australian shrub after his deceased protege in a way to honor his memory.
